Tiger Truck Delivers First Automatic Transmission in Its Class

DALLAS, May 20, 2004 -- In an industry first, Tiger Truck began delivering a 3-speed automatic transmission in its line of off-road, small utility trucks and vans. As a complement to the standard 5-speed manual transmission, the company is the first in its class to make an optional automatic transmission available to its users.

The North American market has a significantly higher density of automatic transmissions installed in passenger cars than any other world market. "Since 85% of all passenger vehicles in the U.S. have automatics," said Mike Ward, President of Tiger Truck, "any vehicle manufacturer that is serious about the U.S. market must have an automatic transmission. We continue to listen for the configurations most desired in our selected worldwide markets and are pleased to remain a leader in delivering those capabilities most wanted by our discriminating users."

Tiger's fully automatic transmission includes three selectable Forward ranges, Park, Reverse and Neutral. According to Mike Felder, EVP - Operations for Tiger, "our large fleet operators have been waiting for an automatic to expand the pool of qualified drivers. No longer is special training required to master clutch and gear-shift operations in a variety of driving conditions. Virtually everyone with a license is now a qualified driver, making staff scheduling more cost-effective. At only $1395 MSRP, the cost of this useful option is quickly returned by improved staff management and safer operations."
