Subaru of Indiana America, Inc. Honors DENSO
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., May 20 -- Four DENSO companies were honored with Subaru of Indiana America, Inc. (SIA) Quality Achievement Awards at a ceremony at University Inn, West Lafayette, Ind. on May 12, 2004. SIA recognized DENSO and other select suppliers for meeting parts and bulk materials quality and delivery requirements. DENSO achieved no less than 99.5 out of 100 points in the PPM Rating category and no less than 99 out of 100 points on Delivery Rating.
Among the DENSO companies honored were: * DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee, Inc. (DMTN) received the Presidential Award for its Starter; * DENSO Manufacturing Athens Tennessee, Inc. (DMAT) received the Quality Award for the 02 Sensor and the A/F Sensor; * DENSO Manufacturing Michigan (DMMI), Inc. received the Quality Award for the Radiator; and * DENSO Mexico S.A. de C.V. (DNMX) received a Quality Award for the CCV.
The Quality Award is given to suppliers who obtain no less than 99 percent of the quality rating criteria. This criteria covers three basic categories: supplier defect index, SIA lost time and problem reaction, or countermeasure due date. The Presidential Award is given to suppliers who win a Quality Award for five years in a row.
Hiroyuki Oikawa, SIA president and CEO, congratulated SIA suppliers for achievement in areas of quality and delivery and recognized the important role suppliers play in maintaining the high quality standard of Subaru vehicles.
"Since an automobile is a conglomeration consisting of several tens of thousands of parts, SIA alone cannot make cars without the suppliers," Oikawa said. "Even though SIA builds cars named as Subaru Legacy and Outback, each component or part has your name on it. Thank you for working with us."
Oikawa commended suppliers for their efforts to provide SIA with high quality parts and timely delivery to meet customers' needs particularly during the launch of the new model Legacy and Outback lines earlier this year.
"Thanks to your cooperation, the 2005 model year Legacy and Outback daily schedule is at full production level at SIA." Oikawa further encouraged suppliers to continue to make quality the priority saying, "Let's take this opportunity to refresh our strong determination to carry out our commitment to quality."
