Suzuki to Manufacture All-new Diesel Engine in India
Tokyo (JCNN) - Suzuki has announced that it will begin manufacturing an all-new diesel engine at its Indian subsidiary, Maruti Udyog, in response to growing demand for diesel engines in India.
Suzuki will tie-up with Fiat of Italy and Opel of Germany to develop the all-new 1.3-liter four-cylinder diesel engine. Production is slated to begin in December 2006.
Maruti Udyog, located in the city of New Deli, currently produces several Suzuki models including the Every, the Jimny, the Wagon R, and the Alto. The Indian company manufactured a total of 470,000 units in fiscal 2003.
