For Fifth Year in a Row Modine Named One of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens

RACINE, Wis.--May 1, 20049, 2004--Modine Manufacturing Company is proud to announce, for the fifth year in a row, it has been named one of the prestigious 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2004. The list, published in the Spring edition of Business Ethics Magazine, is based on quantitative measures of corporate service to seven stakeholder groups: Stockholders, Employees, Customers, the Community, the Environment, Overseas Stakeholders, and Women & Minorities.

For the third straight year, Modine finished tied for first in the environment category. "We are extremely proud of our accomplishments world-wide in reducing waste, saving resources and eliminating pollution at our facilities," said Gary Fahl, Modine's Environmental, Health and Safety Officer.

Modine finished 32nd overall, the same ranking as last year, ahead of such companies as Delphi, Eastman Kodak, Fed Ex and PepsiCo, Inc. "While we are proud of our ranking, we look forward to the challenge of improving it next year," said Fahl. Business Ethics applauded Modine for its work as an environmental steward. The magazine highlighted Modine's fuel cell program, reporting that the new technology has the potential to replace polluting internal combustion engines.

The top four companies for 2004, in order of ranking, are Fannie Mae, Procter & Gamble, Intel, and St. Paul Companies. Statistical analysis for the list was done by Sandra Waddock and Samuel Graves of the Carroll School of Management at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA. Social ratings were provided by KLD Research & Analytics of Boston, a research firm serving socially responsible investors.
