Bosch Supports 2004 Jeep(R) 101 Tour, Launches Diesel Learning Center

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., May 19, 2004 -- Robert Bosch Corporation today announced its participation in the 2004 Jeep(R) 101 tour as part of its ongoing efforts to promote diesel vehicles in the United States. The company is providing its Diesel Learning Center display, which details the advantages of today's clean diesel technology, to Jeep for its 2004 tour of five cities and eight military bases around the country.

Bosch's Diesel Learning Center debuted at the New York International Auto Show in conjunction with the launch of the 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD equipped with a 2.8-liter common rail diesel engine. Available this fall, the diesel- powered Liberty will be the first diesel in the U.S. mid-size sport-utility vehicle segment. Bosch is reaching out to consumers with educational information, delivering the message that diesels are good, clean, fun -- and available today.

"Bosch is committed to diesel because we believe it is a near-term solution for the United States' energy challenges," said John Moulton, president, powertrain division, Robert Bosch Corporation. "We welcome the opportunity to partner with automakers to ensure that car buyers are aware of the benefits of diesel and that diesel is available today in the U.S."

A 2002 study by J.D. Power and Associates revealed that 65 percent of consumers said they would at least consider selecting a clean diesel vehicle for their next car when given a choice between a traditional gasoline, clean diesel or hybrid electric engine.

Bosch attributes this interest to the number of benefits diesel vehicles deliver. Auto show attendees who visited the company's display discovered compelling facts about diesels -- including the technology's 25 to 30 percent fuel economy advantage over comparable gasoline powertrains, as well as the 15 to 20 percent decrease in carbon dioxide emissions and up to 40 percent higher torque output.

In addition to traveling with the Jeep 101 Tour, Bosch's Diesel Learning Center will appear at a number of industry, government and consumer events throughout the year. To learn more about Bosch and diesel technology, visit the company's Web site at www.boschdiesel.com .
