Texaco/Havoline Racing Fast Facts:
* The Return of Chassis #307: Crew Chief Donnie Wingo and the
Texaco/Havoline team are bringing chassis #307 to compete in the NASCAR
NEXTEL Open/All-Star Challenge at Lowe's Motor Speedway. McMurray
competed with Chassis #307 eight times during the second half of the
2003 season, posting two top-five and five top-10 finishes. Chassis #307
last took to the track back in January during a test at Las Vegas Motor
Speedway. It has spent the past few months getting resurrected after
McMurray was involved in an accident during the Las Vegas test.
* McMurray Notes: McMurray is looking to make his second start in
the NEXTEL All-Star Challenge. McMurray finished 22nd in the event last
year after qualifying in the 23rd position. He was eliminated after the
first segment.
* The Joplin, Mo. native has two opportunities to advance to the
NEXTEL All-Star Challenge. If McMurray wins the All-Star Open he
transfers to the All-Star Challenge. A driver will also get voted in by
the fans to complete the field of cars for the non-points event.
* McMurray and the Texaco/Havoline team currently sit 13th in
NASCAR NEXTEL Cup points, 128 points out of the NASCAR Top 10.
* McMurray will join fellow NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series drivers next
Tuesday at NASCAR Speed Park in Concord, N.C. for Elliott Sadler's "Race
for Hope" benefiting the Autism Society of America and Victory Junction
Gang Camp.
Jamie McMurray Quotes:
Thoughts on All-Star Challenge: "I feel like our Texaco/Havoline Dodge
is going to be strong enough that we should be a contender for the win
in the All-Star Open and can advance to the All-Star Challenge. If for
some reason that doesn't happen, I'm hoping that all my fans are pulling
an 'American Idol' and are voting for me numerous times. This race is
for the fans. There are no points on the line and everyone takes a few
more risks than normal. This race always lives up to its reputation."
