Jim Beam(R) Awards Lucky Fan a Chance to Win One Million Dollars if Driver Dan Wheldon Wins the 88th Annual Indianapolis 500
DEERFIELD, Ill., May 18, 2004 -- Today, Jim Beam(R) announced the winner of the Jim Beam/Indy 500 Sweepstakes, which gives one lucky fan the chance to win one million dollars if Dan Wheldon -- the 2003 IndyCar(R) Series Rookie-of-the-Year and current points leader -- wins the Indianapolis 500. Jim Beam is a co-major sponsor of the No. 26 car driven by Wheldon in the Indy Racing League IndyCar(R) Series, and an associate sponsor for Wheldon's teammates, Tony Kanaan and Dario Franchitti.
Sweepstakes winner Tanya Arts, along with her parents and sister, will enjoy an all-expense paid trip to experience the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing" and watch Wheldon compete on Sunday, May 30. The 25-year-old resident of Minneapolis, Minn., was chosen during a random drawing last month.
"I can't wait to attend my first Indianapolis 500," Arts said. "I look forward to watching Dan [Wheldon] bring home the Indianapolis 500 title -- and dream of walking away one million dollars richer."
That dream could well become a reality, as Wheldon is coming off his first IndyCar Series win in Japan last month and recently qualified second for the Indianapolis 500.
Arts will arrive in Indianapolis on the May 27 Carburetion Day, which is the qualified drivers' final opportunity to practice before the big event. She will enjoy a tour of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway museum, attend the 500 Festival Parade and meet Wheldon's Andretti Green Racing teammates and team owner Michael Andretti.
