SCCA PRO RACING ANNOUNCES SANCTIONING AGREEMENT

TOPEKA, Kan. – The American GT Challenge and SCCA Pro Racing® announced today they have reached an agreement to sanction the AGT race at Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ontario Sunday, May 23, as part of the Victoria Day Weekend May 21-23.

"We are happy to be working with the American GT Challenge and are pleased to be able to sanction its event at Mosport," Mitch Wright, Vice President and General Manger of SCCA Pro Racing, said. "We are currently working with the series to sanction future races."

"When you consider the heritage the Sports Car Club of America brings to the event along with the insurance for the competitors, it was just too good of an opportunity to pass up." Todd Benne, Director of Operations for the American GT Challenge said. "We felt the competitors and the tracks could benefit from even a limited involvement by the SCCA."

In February, the American GT Road Racing Association announced the formation of its new racing series, the American GT Challenge. The series allows drivers with purpose built, tube frame produced American touring or grand touring cars conforming to 2003 SCCA GT-1, Grand Am GTS or Trans-Am specifications to compete. The American GT Challenge promotes parity by way of weight adjustments and wing height restrictions.

The American GT Challenge uses purpose built tube frame chassis cars, power by a V-8 & V-6 engine, with composite bodies, replicating series produced American touring or grand touring cars competing exclusively on Goodyear Racing Tires. For more information visit www.americangt.com.

The American GT Challenge next stop is at Mosport International Raceway May 23rd, in Bowmanville, Ontario Canada.
