Alibre Design Powers University of California, San Diego Formula SAE Team; Alibre Design Available to All FSAE Teams at No Charge

RICHARDSON, Texas--May 17, 2004--Alibre Inc. today announced that they are actively supporting the University of California, San Diego Formula SAE(R) team by providing free access to Alibre Design 3D CAD software. Alibre has expanded this software grant to all FSAE teams in future competitions. 140 teams are registered for the 2004 event to be held in Pontiac, Mich., May 19, 2004-23, 2004.

The FSAE competition is one of the premier events in the performance auto industry and sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers. Schools from around the world "strut their stuff" and manufacturers come to see new cutting-edge designs. Student teams are required to design, fabricate and compete with small formula-style race cars. The vehicles are judged in two different categories: static inspection based on engineering design, and dynamic solo performance trials followed by a high-performance 22 kilometer endurance run.

UCSD has sent two teams to the FSAE competition since inception in 1997. After a three-year hiatus, the team has rebuilt itself into one of the largest active engineering organizations on campus in less than a year. The team's web site can be viewed at http://sae.ucsd.edu/.

"The Formula SAE competition is challenging and exhilarating. We're excited to be supporting the team from UCSD," said Greg Milliken, president and CEO of Alibre, Inc. "The team has shown extraordinary focus and commitment, so much so that we decided to expand our sponsorship for next year to provide all registered teams free access to Alibre Design to assist in designing their entries."

"Alibre Design has definitely helped our team build a better vehicle," said Micah Bayless, UCSD SAE President. "The software's powerful real-time peer-to-peer collaborative ability proved essential for us. Alibre Design is easy enough for incoming members to learn in a pinch. Alibre as a company has also been very supportive of our Formula team and has helped us every step of the way."

"Alibre's sponsorship of our FSAE team has been great," said Juan Lasheras, Professor & Chair, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at UCSD. "The team was able to take advantage of the Alibre Design software to produce a very competitive vehicle, and we're looking forward to a great showing this year."
