Cadpo Announces the i.get.it(R) Academic Program for Community and Technical Colleges

WESTMINSTER, Colo., May 17, 2004 -- Cadpo announces the i.get.it Academic Program, which provides online courseware and textbooks to community and technical colleges. Cadpo provides the MCAD/PLM industry standard in software neutral eLearning, training and engineering services.

"This program addresses the immediate needs of both academia and industry," says Kevin Noe, president, Cadpo. "We believe college students can serve the industry at a higher level if they are learning on the same courseware that is applied at major manufacturers. Traditionally, professors have had to pull from many different resources to provide good industry context in the classroom. This program gives them industry projects and the latest best practices. In addition, it provides eLearning in the CAD classroom so that students are studying today in the same environment they will learn in at future employers."

This semester Macomb Community College in Michigan was the first school to pilot this blended approach of i.get.it online course material and classroom instruction in its Unigraphics and CATIA courses for vehicle design.

"i.get.it provides Macomb's students access to best-in-class course materials," says Peter Klein, dean, Macomb. "Leveraging Cadpo's real-world curriculum will better prepare our students for work in the industry. In addition, i.get.it provides a measurement and management tool for our instructors to analyze student skills gaps, track student progress, and administer exams. This along with the ability to customize courses will reduce course development and class preparation time, providing more time for mentoring students."

"I am excited to use Cadpo's course materials in the classroom," says Jim Carlson, CAD instructor, Macomb. "Their industry-focused curriculum and projects increase the quality of my classes, particularly in our Automotive Vehicle Design program. I like the ability to customize each class. i.get.it allows me to drag and drop course units and exercises easily. I also have varying levels of student knowledge -- entry level to senior working professionals. With i.get.it, students can access course materials from home to work at their own pace."

With funding extremely tight at most colleges, the program is funded mainly through student textbook fees. Students pay approximately the cost of a textbook for the semester. The college pays an annual subscription for instructors, which allows them to customize a course, manage student progress, administer exams and access i.get.it's database of course projects and part files.

Cadpo will host a free Academic Blended Learning Seminar in Detroit in the next month featuring Macomb. For more information on the seminar or Academic program, contact Dora Smith, 314-862-1649, dsmith@cadpo.com
