Universal Technical Institute Receives License Approval From Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to Operate New Exton Campus
PHOENIX, May 17, 2004 -- Universal Technical Institute, Inc. today announced the Pennsylvania Department of Education voted to approve and grant a license to Universal Technical Institute, Inc., allowing the organization to operate a new campus in southeastern Pennsylvania.
UTI's new facility in Exton, Pa., is expected to open in July 2004. The campus will offer programs in automotive technology designed to teach students how to diagnose, service and repair automobiles. Manufacturer-sponsored advanced training programs, available to UTI students in nearby Allentown, Pa., will include the Audi Academy Technician Program, Mercedes-Benz ELITE Program and Volkswagen Academy Technician Recruitment Program.
Encompassing approximately 160,000 square feet, the UTI-Exton campus will accommodate up to 2,000 students and 200 staff members.
"The market for qualified service technicians is large and growing," said Kimberly McWaters, president and chief executive officer of UTI. "The automotive manufacturers for whom we provide advanced training programs have called upon UTI to provide high-quality training that meets the employment and advanced training needs of their dealer networks in the northeast region."
During the next 20 years, UTI will invest a minimum of $20 million into its Exton campus for rent, equipment and training aids. Other investments will include employee salaries and capital improvements.
