DaimlerChrysler Helps Shine a Clean Light on MorningSide Clean-Up Project

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 14 -- Local DaimlerChrysler facilities are joining forces with MorningSide neighborhood to organize Detroit's "Motor City Make Over." The community event will bring neighbors to help clean-up the new Gateway Park at Mack Avenue and Alter Road, and the East Warren Business District on Saturday, May 1, 20045, 2004 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"DaimlerChrysler is proud to be a part of the coordinated efforts led by MorningSide and others that recognize the importance of beautifying our community," said Robert Mason, Plant Engineer of DaimlerChrysler (Plymouth Road).

As volunteer coordinator for MorningSide, Mason is spearheading the organizing efforts on Detroit's eastside. Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. at MorningSide Commons Park, located on Alter Road and Waveney Street. Major sponsors include: MorningSide Community Association, New Life Ventures, DaimlerChrysler Corporation - Jefferson North Assembly Plant and DaimlerChrysler Corporation - Plymouth Road Office Complex.

"The project is designed to encourage community involvement and curbside appeal in our community," Mason said. "MorningSide is one of Detroit's oldest neighborhood organizations and has over 4,500 homes in its east side area of influence."

MorningSide neighborhood group was founded in 1978 as Neighbors East Area Residents (NEAR), and sponsors an annual homeowner's beautification award.
