FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SolarMetric's Kodo JDO Now Provides Management Capability
Based on JMX Standard

Standards-based Support for Management and Monitoring

AUSTIN, Texas, May 13, 2004 -- SolarMetric today announced
the availability of a new product called the Kodo Management
Console as part of its popular Kodo(TM) JDO product. Kodo
JDO, the leading implementation of the Java Data Objects
standard, reduces the time and effort associated with
linking relational and other databases with a Java
application. The Kodo Management Console enables
straightforward graphical management and monitoring of Kodo
JDO-enabled Java applications. By using the Java Management
Extensions (JMX) standard, Kodo JDO-enabled applications can
also be managed by any JMX-enabled management tool,
including those included by popular J2EE application server
vendors, thus integrating management of persistence with
management of other enterprise functions.

The Kodo Management Console gives J2SE and J2EE developers
an intuitive user interface to access, manage, monitor, and
chart the following Kodo JDO-related statistics:

-- JDBC connection pool size and activity
-- JDBC-prepared statement pool size and activity
-- Data cache and query cache size and activity
-- Logging (optional)
-- Integration into the Kodo Profiler for analysis of
   performance bottlenecks at runtime

"Customers demand real-time status and visibility into the
performance of their Java applications. With the Kodo
Management Console, Kodo JDO customers can better monitor,
analyze and manage their Kodo JDO-leveraged Java
applications," said Patrick Linskey, Chief Technology
Officer of SolarMetric. "Initial reports indicate that the
information from the Kodo Management Console has allowed
customers to save money by better managing their database
connections and improve performance by changing their cache
settings. The net result is that developers using Kodo JDO
with the Kodo Management Console are developing more
reliable enterprise Java applications."

The Kodo Management Console allows for both local and remote
management. When used remotely, Kodo can connect directly to
a standalone JMX viewer (included), or to your application
server's JMX console.

Kodo JDO 3 is available today. Kodo JDO Standard Edition can
be purchased for $600 per named developer and Kodo JDO
