SEOUL, March 12, 2004; (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronology of events on the alliance and divorce of DaimlerChrysler AG, the world's fifth-largest carmaker, and Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's largest automaker:

1981 -- Hyundai Motor and DaimlerChrysler sign a deal on technology alliance.

June 26, 2000 -- Hyundai Motor and DaimlerChrysler reach a pact on strategic alliance. The German automaker decides to buy a 10-percent stake in Hyundai Motor.
