Mustang Mania in Denver
WHAT: The all-new 2005 Ford Mustang will stop in Denver to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the original Pony Car, accompanied by as many as 200 Mustangs of all vintages from the eight Denver-area Mustang Clubs. Together, they will welcome the Great American Pony Drive II, a group of international Mustang enthusiasts who are traversing the country celebrating their favorite car.
WHEN: Friday, May 14 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Reception hosted by Denver Mustang Club at Phil Long Ford. Founded in 1965, the Denver Mustang Club is the oldest Mustang enthusiast club in Colorado, and one of the first Mustang Clubs in the nation. Saturday, May 15 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. Media and VIP welcome reception at Colorado Mustang Specialists for the Great American Pony Drive II tour. 10:00 - 3:00 p.m. Public reception and car show at Colorado Mustang Specialists, with as many as 200 Mustangs of all vintages on display.
WHO: Interview the 2005 Team Mustang member Bob Johnston. In addition to serving as Vehicle Engineering Manager on the Mustang program, Johnston has two Mustangs of his own: A 1979 Indy Pace Car and a 1996 GT Convertible
SUMMARY: Experience firsthand the passion and enthusiasm the Mustang has engendered for 40 years. Also, view 40 years of automotive history "on the hoof" from local members' 1965 Mustangs to the all-new 2005 model.
