Stremme Ready for Richmond

Richmond, VA (May 11, 2004) – Team TRIMSPA driver David Stremme had not even
pulled his car behind the wall at the end of last weekend’s race in St. Louis
before already thinking of racing at Richmond International Raceway.

“Good job guys,” Stremme said over the radio after taking the checkered flag
at Gateway International Raceway. “Now let’s go to Richmond and get it on!”

Stremme’s eighth-place finish last weekend at Gateway, his fourth top 10 of
the 2004 season, ended a streak of four-straight finishes of 27th or worse. The
finish came with new crew chief Randy Cox in his first weekend calling the
shots for the TRIMSPA X32 Dodge.

“Last weekend was a big improvement for the TRIMSPA Dodge,” said Stremme. “
Our team has been putting in a lot of hard work to get our season turned back
around. I knew things were headed in the right direction, but Gateway is not
one of my favorite tracks. I would have settled for a top 15. To get another top
10 just makes me that much more anxious to race in Richmond because it is one
of my favorite tracks.”

Team TRIMSPA tested two new cars at Richmond just last week. The Dodge that
ran the fastest became the Richmond primary, the other went immediately to St.
Louis to race last weekend where it returned with the top 10.

“The car we are taking to Richmond is stronger than what we took to Gateway,”
said Stremme. “I have looked forward to this race all season because
Richmond is the best short track on the circuit. Bristol is awesome, don’t get me
wrong, but the best racing is at Richmond. I had a chance to run on the new
surface during the test and I also saw that they had installed soft walls. Looks
like they are putting money and effort into making sure we continue to see the
same great side by side short track racing at Richmond.”

Stremme posted two top 15 finishes last season in his first two starts at
Richmond. With a newly focused program and increased confidence, Stremme and Team
TRIMSPA hope to improve on those results.

“Richmond is a very tight and competitive track,” said crew chief Randy Cox.
“We want to go up there and post a solid finish to build back up our points
to where this team is capable of running. Most teams say they have a stronger
short track program than superspeedway. This is a chance for us to prove it.”

Stremme and Team TRIMSPA will hit the track at RIR for the Funai 250 this
Friday. The race will be televised live Friday night, May 14th, at 7:30 p.m.
eastern time on FX and will broadcast nationally at that same time on radio
stations affiliated with Motor Racing Network (MRN) and XM Satellite Radio Channel
144.
