What:     A press conference announcing the testing and development 
          partnership between the EPA and International Truck and 
          Engine Corporation concerning EPA's Clean Diesel Combustion 
          (CDC) technology for low-emission diesel engines. This 
          technology potentially will:
          --  Further the viability of diesel engines in passenger
              vehicles with near-zero emissions.
          --  Yield cost-effective light-duty and heavy-duty diesel 
              power without NOx aftertreatment systems.
          --  Create additional skilled jobs in the U.S. diesel 
              engine industry.

Why:      In 2007 and 2010 EPA standards will mandate that all 
          on-highway diesel engines must achieve near-zero NOx 
          emissions. Learn how CDC technology not only will help to 
          meet these mandates but further increase the viability of 
          clean diesel technology in light-duty and heavy-duty 
          commercial and consumer vehicles like SUVs and passenger 
          cars.
