McDonald Automotive Group Completes Multi-Million Dollar Project
LITTLETON, Colo., May 11, 2004 -- Douglas McDonald, President of McDonald Automotive Group, is combining cutting edge technology with time- honored traditions that have led to decades of success and customer satisfaction. We are proud to announce the official launch of our new Audi and Volkswagen service and sales centers, as well as our new and separate collision center campus. These projects have taken nearly three years to complete, at an investment by McDonald Automotive Group of $8.8 million.
McDonald's Audi facilities, along with others, mark a national brand initiative and concept for the automaker called, the "New World of Audi." McDonald's renovated 18,600-square-foot service and sales facility is highlighted by a well-manicured outdoor patio to view current Audi models as well as a vast inventory of high-quality certified pre-owned vehicles. If the weather does not cooperate, a client can explore ten vehicles in our glass walled showroom. This facility features a relaxing lounge complete with a plasma television, a fully stocked "quattro Cafe" and is complemented by a computer workstation if your business mind calls you away.
"The McDonald Automotive Group and Audi are focused on a flawless customer service experience supported by a benchmark product, a comfortable and convenient showroom and a friendly, knowledgeable staff," says Mr. McDonald. "Now, we are bringing these elements together in a world-class facility."
We are dually proud of our new Volkswagen sales and service facility. This 23,700-square-foot structure also displays eight current products in the Volkswagen lineup, as well as the capacity to service up to eighteen vehicles at any given time. This remarkable building lends itself to customer friendliness with a computer work center, customer cafe and a children's entertainment area. If nostalgia is what you seek, you will be pleased to view one of the last original Volkswagen Beetles ever produced. This 1979 convertible has never been titled and has only 35 original miles. It is one of the last one hundred models ever imported to the United States. This structure is but another facet in the McDonald Automotive Group experience ... drivers wanted!
The collision center, located in the South Park Business Complex, encompasses 47,000 square feet on approximately seven acres, setting the benchmark in the industry for all collision centers. This facility features three Garmat downflow paint booths with six Garmat body prep stations and four laser measuring frame racks to ensure the most precise and high-quality repair possible for your vehicle. This highly advanced repair facility incorporates a well-appointed new vehicle pre-delivery center, as well as a full detail shop supporting up to eight vehicles at one time.
The McDonald family has been selling and servicing Volkswagens from the Littleton location since 1965, as well as providing sales and service for the Audi product line since 1994. The family's roots in the automotive business go back to 1926 when McDonald's father, Stanley, began selling Dodge automobiles in Yakima, Wash., and followed with the opening of his own Dodge store in Roswell, N.M., in 1949. Today, with three sons by his side, the McDonald family owns and operates some of the largest and fastest growing Audi and Volkswagen dealerships in the United States. Both franchises boast rankings in the top 15 dealers in the nation. McDonald Automotive Group is located on the 6000 block of South Broadway, Littleton, Colorado. In addition to selling Volkswagen and Audi brand products, McDonald is proud to offer the sales and service of Volvo, Mazda and Hyundai and pre-owned vehicles. McDonald Automotive Group has three sales and service facilities supporting five franchises and 271 employees. In addition, Douglas McDonald has served as chairman, vice-chairman and district director for the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association and chairman of the National Volkswagen Dealer Council. In 1991, Time Magazine, in cooperation with the National Automobile Dealers Association, honored him with the Quality Dealer Award. McDonald Automotive Group shares their success with the community by supporting many charities and clubs, including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation with an annual golf tournament.
Douglas McDonald, his three sons, and the entire staff at McDonald Automotive Group are excited to announce a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:15 p.m. (Audi) and at 8:15 p.m. (Volkswagen) on May 11 and will feature Volkswagen of America President, Gerd Klauss, Audi of America Vice President, Axel Mees, Vice President of Volkswagen, Len Hunt and several hundred of McDonald's customers and friends. There will be entertainment provided, including a jazz guitarist to play in the Volkswagen facility as well as a pianist in the new Audi showroom.
"Audi and Volkswagen are ahead of the curve in styling, technology and retail concepts," says Mr. McDonald. "With the Audi and Volkswagen Brands as part of our feature line of vehicles, we have echoed their philosophies of design and technology with our new sales and service facilities. We are excited to welcome our past, present, as well as future customers."
