Students' Lives
--AAA
WHAT: AAA will bestow the nation's highest pedestrian safety award
to eight heroic school safety patrollers, all of whom made
split-second decisions to take their fellow students out of
harm's way. This marks the 55th year that AAA has awarded
the "Lifesaver Medal" to outstanding safety patrollers who
have saved lives. The ceremony also honors the AAA club
safety patrollers of the year chosen from the over 500,000
patrollers who perform their duties every day to keep
children safe.
WHO: The lifesaving safety patrollers range from 10- to 14-years
old and hail from Bristow, Culpeper and Manassas, Va.;
Centereach, N.Y.; Harrah, Wash.; Milwaukee, Wis.; and Akron,
Ohio. Their heroic stories are inspiring examples for
children and adults alike.
A AAA traffic safety expert will also discuss four things
every parent should teach their children about traffic
hazards.
WHEN: The Lifesavers and the AAA safety expert are currently
available for national and local media interviews upon
