Motorcar Parts of America Announces Expanded Supply Relationship with AutoZone

NEW YORK--May 1, 20040, 2004--Motorcar Parts of America, Inc. ("MPA") (OTC:MPAA), a leading provider of remanufactured starters and alternators for the automotive aftermarket, announced at today's Wall Street Analyst Forum's 51st Analyst Conference that MPA has signed an agreement to be the primary provider of import alternators and starters to AutoZone, Inc.

Under the new, multi-year agreement, MPA will be the primary supplier of alternators and starters in the import category for AutoZone's eight U.S. distribution centers, up from four currently. The import category makes up over one-half of MPA's existing business with AutoZone.
