Nissan Europe Reports April Sales
TRAPPES, France, May 7, 2004 --
Nissan Europe reported total sales of 47,213 vehicles (1) in April 2004, an increase of 7.7% over the same month last year.
In the four month period from January to April 2004, Nissan Europe sold 185,440 units, 6% up from last year.
Highlights By Country
- Nissan in France sold 4,312 units in April, registering a 4.3% increase compared to last year. In the four month period from January to April 2004, Nissan sold 15,982 units in France, up by 7.6% compared to last year.
- In Germany, Nissan sold 5,824 units in April, representing an increase of 5.8% compared to last year. In the four month period from January to April 2004, Nissan sold 17,364 units in Germany, 17% down from last year.
- In Italy, Nissan sold 7,000 units in April, up 9.3% against last year. In the four month period from January to April 2004, Nissan sales in Italy rose to 28,978 units, up by 26.2% compared to last year.
- Nissan in Spain sold 5,768 units in April, a stable figure compared to last year. In the four month period from January to April 2004, Nissan sales in Spain rose to 20,948 units up by 15.1% compared to last year.
- In the UK, Nissan sold 7,333 units, a decrease of 5.2% compared to last year. In the four month period from January to April 2004, Nissan's sales in the UK fell to 37,248 units, down 5.3% compared to last year.
Model Highlights
- The Micra was Nissan's best-selling European model with a total of 14,882 unit sales in April representing an increase of 7% against the same month last year. In the four month period from January to April 2004, total Micra sales reached 59,648 units, up by 20% compared to last year.
- X-TRAIL sales increased by 61% in April against the same month last year to 5,483 units. In the four month period from January to April 2004, total X-TRAIL sales reached 21,096 units, up by 31.2% compared to last year.
- Pickup sales increased by 29.3% in April against the same month last year to 3,591 units. In the four month period from January to April 2004, total Pickup sales reached 14,110 units, up by 21% compared to last year
Nissan employs around 12,000 people in its European design, research and development, manufacturing, logistics, and sales and marketing operations. Last year, the company produced a total of 448,513 vehicles in its Spanish and British plants and sold 542,292 vehicles in Europe. Nissan Europe's Head Office is based in Trappes (Paris), France.
