Safety, Environmental Issues Highlight SAE Government/Industry Meeting
WASHINGTON, May 4, 2004 -- Top mobility industry executives and governmental officials will discuss the future of the automotive industry when the Society of Automotive Engineers, International (SAE) convenes its 22nd Government/Industry Meeting next week in Washington, D.C.

This year's event carries the theme "Government/Industry: Partners for Progress" and covers a host of hot button automotive issues, including automotive safety, emissions, and alternate fuels. The meeting features a Ride & Drive event, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), a "21st Century Truck" static display, again courtesy of the U.S. DOE, and a crashworthiness seminar and crash test.
The meeting features an assortment of high-level executive panels and keynotes. For instance, the luncheon on Tuesday, May 11, offers two keynotes for the price of one: David Garman, Assistant Secretary, Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy, U.S. DOE, and Thomas G.
