Lexus Reports Best-Ever April Sales for the Seventh-Consecutive Year
TORRANCE, Calif., May 3, 2004 -- Lexus today reported April sales of 23,555 vehicles, an increase of 10.7 percent, recording the division's seventh consecutive best-ever April.
"Several positive economic factors contributed to make April an excellent sales month for Lexus," said Denny Clements, Lexus group vice president and general manager. "The nation saw increases in everything from consumer spending to job creation, even a slight increase in wages and salaries came with an additional boost from tax refunds. The fact that many of those consumers chose to purchase a Lexus makes a very positive statement about our commitment to build a quality product and an equally strong commitment by our dealers to provide an exceptional customer experience."
Lexus luxury sport utility vehicles (SUVs) led the sales charge, enjoying best-ever April sales of 11,982, up 8.5 percent over the same period last year. The RX 330 was the luxury utility vehicle sales leader with best-ever April sales of 8,227, an increase of 7.3 percent, while the GX 470 mid-size luxury SUV recorded its best-ever selling month with sales of 2,930 units, up 9.6 percent. Sales of the LX 470 full-size premium luxury SUV also posted significant gains, up 17.0 percent.
Lexus passenger cars also posted strong sales of 11,573, an increase of 13.1 percent. The ES 330 luxury sedan led sales with 6,460 units, an increase of 21.9 percent. The LS 430 flagship luxury sedan posted sales of 2,706 units, up an impressive 63.8 percent. Sales of the SC 430 hardtop sports coupe convertible increased 4.5 percent.
In addition to record-breaking new vehicles sales, Lexus Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle sales increased 7.3 percent to 3,203 units. Lexus CPO sales are up 20.1 percent CYTD.
