NOTES OF INTEREST:  In preparation for Saturday night's, Channel 5-205 at Kentucky Speedway, hhgregg Pole Night presented by Coca Cola will help get things underway on Friday, May 7 with Pork Pole Award Qualifying at 4:30 pm local. Saturday's Channel 5-205 will be the 8th appearance of the ARCA RE/MAX Series at KY since its KY debut in the spring of 2000. Frank Kimmel is the all-time RE/MAX Series winner at Kentucky with 3 victories. Additional KY/ARCA winners include Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman, Tim Steele and Chad Blount. This year's entry list is as diverse as the series itself. From the veteran ranks are 5-time series champion Frank Kimmel, third-generation drivers Jason Jarrett and Billy Venturini, as well as 23-year series veteran Mark Gibson. In addition, a very stellar rookie crop is entered including open-wheelers AJ Fike and Hendrick Motorsports developmental driver Blake Feese, who won the RE/MAX Series race at Nashville in April. Other stout rookies entered include Chip Ganassi developmental driver Ryan Hemphill, Sparks NV's TJ Bell, second-generation driver David Ragan and Brian Keselowski, who will make his career-first series attempt at Kentucky. Brian's father Bob Keselowski was the 1989 series driving champion. Knupp, coming off a career-best 4th place finish at Salem, is the youngest driver in the field having turned 18 in February of this year while former Kentucky Pork Pole award winner Vern Slagh is the oldest at 64. In addition to the live SPEED Channel broadcast, WLWT Channel 5, the Cincinnati-based NBC affiliate, will carry live coverage of the race with ARCA/NASCAR Cup champion and renowned television analyst Benny Parsons joining WLWT veteran Ken Broo in the booth. Parsons will also participate in an ARCA RE/MAX Series driver autograph session at the speedway from 4-5 pm. The autograph session will be followed by a live concert featuring country music artist/sensation Sherrie Austin, who will also sing the national anthem for the race. The concert is free as part of the ARCA RE/MAX Series ticket price. As part of the pre-race ceremonies, former NFL Cincinnati Bengals offensive guard and Superbowl veteran Dave Lapham will be the Grand Marshal for the event. Lapham, who played 10 years in the NFL, is currently a color analyst with the Cincinnati Bengals Radio Network.
