Oshkosh Trucks To UK Military
LONDON, May 2, 2004; Reuters reported that U.S. specialty truck maker Oshkosh Truck Corp is tipped to win a three-billion-pound ($5.3 billion) contract from Britain's Ministry of Defence, The Sunday Times newspaper said.
Oshkosh is understood to have pledged to create a European headquarters in south Wales to produce military vehicles in a deal that would create around 1,000 jobs, the paper said.
UK minister William Bach is thought to have accepted a recommendation to appoint Oshkosh, although an announcement is not expected for another eight weeks, it said.
