ORACLE BMW Racing Competes in Europe

Match Race Team at the starting line of Toscana Elba Cup

MUNICH, Germany and PORTO AZZURRO, Italy, April 30 -- After achieving third place last weekend at the Congressional Cup in Long Beach, California, helmsman Gavin Brady of ORACLE BMW Racing intends to keep up the good performance on the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Italy in the Toscana Elba Cup in Porto Azzurro from May 2 to 9. "Without a doubt, we will experience very close match races considering the top-class competition. And we will attempt to further improve our performance," Brady says.

Besides Brady, who ranks fourth in the tour's overall standings, the ORACLE BMW Racing team is made up of John Kostecki, Dirk de Ridder, Ross Halcrow, Robbie Naismith, Ian Gordon and Phil Jameson. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Elba, the teams of Peter Gilmour (Australia), Magnus Holmberg (Sweden) and Jesper Radich (Denmark), who are holding the top three places on the Swedish Match Tour Championship Leaderboard, will also be on the starting line.

All participants of the Toscana Elba Cup will be sailing the same type of racing yacht, model IMX 40. The Toscana Elba Cup will mark the first time in 2004 that ORACLE BMW Racing will compete in Europe -- four months prior to the first of the America's Cup 2007 Pre-Regatta events starting September 5 with "Marseille Louis Vuitton Act 1" in France.
