Continental Honors Employees Who Received Patents
- Several Awarded Patents and Invention Disclosures in 2003 -
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 28 -- Continental recognized the efforts and achievements of its employees who received patents and submitted invention disclosures in 2003, at a celebratory dinner Tuesday night.
Now in its third year, the annual dinner pays tribute to the importance of ideas and contributions made by individuals who help ensure the company's position as a technological leader in the automotive industry.
Patents were awarded to: *Michael Cunningham (Check Valve Arrangement)
A simplified check valve arrangement uses a flat disc instead of a ball and ball seat.
*Lelit Sethi (Failure Resistant Electric Motor Monitor and Control System)
Monitor and control circuitry for driving a DC motor from a controller. The circuit includes feedback to the controller to diagnose its operation.
*Christian Schumacher and William Skellenger (Algorithm for Determining Travel Direction for Automobiles)
Algorithm for determining if a vehicle is moving forward or in reverse using data from the yaw sensor, steer angle sensor, wheel speeds, and lateral accelerometer.
*Mile Jokic, Robert Kostadina, Christian Schumacher and William Skellenger (Vehicle Control of a Locked Drive System)
Algorithm to control ESP on a vehicle with a locked center differential when the driver is braking.
*David L. Agnew (Safety Interlock System for a Motor Vehicle)
System that detects pedestrians in front of a vehicle such as a school bus, and applies the vehicle's brakes.
