Chrysler Group Achieves Record First Quarter 2004 CPOV Sales
* Chrysler Brand Sales Increase 48 Percent Over March 2003 * Dodge Brand Sales 30 Percent Higher Over March 2003 Results
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 28 -- Chrysler Group reported Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle (CPOV) sales of 25,121 units for first quarter 2004, a new sales record and an increase of 18 percent compared to first quarter 2003 when 21,249 units were sold. The previous sales record was second quarter 2003 when 23,231 units were sold.
"Our record sales for this quarter showcases the growth of our Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle program and the commitment our Five Star Dealers are making to sell certified vehicles to customers," said Ray Fisher, Chrysler Group Vice President - Fleet and Remarketing. "Our sales increases have significantly outpaced industry growth."
Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Sales for March 2004 increased 26 percent to 10,079 units compared to March 2003 when 7,993 units were sold. The Chrysler brand set the pace with sales of 2,893 units in March 2004, an increase of 48 percent versus March 2003. Dodge brand led the way in sales volume by posting sales of 5,201 units, 30 percent higher compared to March 2003 when 3,987 units were sold. Jeep(R) sales decreased 4 percent, posting sales of 1,985 units.
Marketed as "Brand Spankin' Used," Chrysler Group Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles are only sold by Chrysler Group dealers who have earned the Five Star certification. Our Five Star dealers have sold nearly 175,000 CPOV units since April 2002.
