Cottman Transmission Promotion to Help MADD Launch New Middle School Program

FORT WASHINGTON, Pa.--April 26, 2004--Cottman Transmission Systems, LLC, announced today that it is running a national promotion to support MADD(R), Mothers Against Drunk Driving. The promotion will kick off at California Speedway on Saturday, May 1, 2004, when Cottman President and CEO Todd P. Leff, accompanied by NASCAR driver Jeff Burton, will present MADD National Chairman of the Board, Cynthia S. Roark with an initial check for $5,000. Later that day, Burton and the No. 9 Cottman Transmission Ford will draw national attention to the promotion when MADD is featured as a major associate sponsor on the Cottman car for the 1-800-PIT-STOP.COM 300 at the California Speedway. During the balance of the promotion period, which runs from May 1, 2004, through July 31, 2004, Cottman will donate $1 to MADD for every die-cast collectible 1:64 or 1:24 No. 9 Cottman Car given away or sold during the promotion.

Cottman's support of MADD will go directly to MADD's new middle school program called "The Power of Y.O.U.," which focuses on middle schoolers. The program helps children recognize their own personal power and build a strong sense of identity ("Y" stands for You, "O" for Others, and "U" for your personal Universe). MADD's three goals for this program are to delay the onset of alcohol use, reduce the prevalence of alcohol use by middle schoolers, and to reduce the number of middle schoolers riding with impaired drivers.

"Jeff Burton, NASCAR driver and Cottman's national spokesperson, has a long-standing reputation for safety," said Mr. Leff. "When we told Jeff about our intention to support MADD's new middle school program, he was thrilled. Cottman and Jeff Burton stand behind MADD's effort to support and educate middle schoolers about the dangers of alcohol and how to make smart, safe decisions."

"It's an honor to represent Cottman Transmission and all that they stand for," said Burton. "Last year, they implemented a program to raise awareness about bike helmet safety for kids, and now this year they are implementing 'The Power of Y.O.U.' program. To help kids build their own identity is awesome, and I'm proud to be a part of this very unique program with Cottman and MADD."

Cindy Roark, the National Chair of MADD, is very excited about MADD's continuing relationship with Cottman and Jeff Burton. "MADD is very concerned about how early young people are beginning to use alcohol and we want to do everything we can to delay the onset of alcohol use," said Ms. Roark. "We are grateful for the support of Cottman Transmission, and with Jeff Burton as part of this promotion, we feel that MADD is getting double support."

During the promotion, participating Cottman centers are offering the 1:64 die-cast collectible Cottman car free with any major transmission repair or fluid change. Customers may purchase additional 1:64 cars for $5.00, upgrade to the larger 1:24 collectible car for $12.99, or purchase additional 1:24 cars for $18.75. Both of these collectible cars are also available for purchase at www.cottman.com. For any car given away free or sold, Cottman will donate $1.00 to MADD.
