Sample NAVTEQ(TM) Maps of North America and Europe Now Available in Oracle 10g Format

CHICAGO, April 26 -- NAVTEQ, a leading global provider of digital map data for vehicle, Internet/wireless, government and business solutions, is offering sample NAVTEQ map data in the Oracle Database 10g format to all Oracle customers and prospects. Sample NAVTEQ maps are now available for San Francisco, Washington, DC and Munich, Germany and can be downloaded through the Oracle Technology Network or directly from NAVTEQ's web site.

NAVTEQ street network data is provided in the new Oracle 10g schemas that support geocoding and mapping. This gives Oracle 10g customers the chance to explore the power of new spatial features in the Oracle database while they evaluate the quality, accuracy and reliability of NAVTEQ maps.

NAVTEQ map data will be available as transportable tablespaces, another new manageability feature of the Oracle 10g platform, so that the data is instantly available to customers' local databases without performing time consuming load and import operations.

In addition to support for managing satellite imagery (GeoRaster), network data and persistent topology information, Oracle 10g Spatial includes powerful new features that perform geocoding and routing in the database. These features are valuable for logistics, supply chain, asset management, field service, call centers and many other critical business functions that need to know the location of an address or need to provide directions from one address to another. NAVTEQ is the first map data supplier to make high quality street network data available as Oracle 10g transportable tablespaces.

"Many Oracle customers rely on location information to make decisions that save cost and time. Our customers have long realized value from the accuracy offered by NAVTEQ maps," said Steven Hagan, Oracle's Vice President of Development for spatial and location services. "The availability of NAVTEQ street network data in Oracle Database 10g format adds value for our customers by enabling them to more easily integrate NAVTEQ maps into their Oracle-based enterprise solutions."

"The introduction of Oracle 10g underscores Oracle's dedication to making location-based information integral to the infrastructure available to all enterprise applications. By offering our map data in the Oracle 10g format, NAVTEQ will be enabling Oracle customers to seamlessly integrate road network data into their enterprise applications," commented John MacLeod, Executive Vice President - Global Marketing & Strategy for NAVTEQ.
