Tata Consultancy Services to Open Automotive Center of Excellence Serving US Automotive Manufacturers and Suppliers

DETROIT--April 21, 2004--

Establishment of an Automotive Development Center in Detroit will create local jobs and provide world class services to TCS' auto industry customers

Tata Consultancy Services, a champion of flexible global business models, today announced its intention to open an "Automotive Center of Excellence" in Detroit, from which it will provide Information Technology, Manufacturing and Engineering consulting and services to its roster of North American automotive customers. The center will be fully functional within the next two months, and TCS anticipates hiring 50 local automotive professionals in the next 12-18 months to augment the firm's renowned automotive specialists currently residing in Detroit. TCS executives cite the move as a key development in the expansion of the firm's global delivery model.

TCS counts the Detroit based automotive OEMs, Ford, General Motors, and DaimlerChrysler among its customers, as well as several of the automotive industry's leading tier-one suppliers, including Johnson Controls and Eaton. The Center of Excellence is an extension of TCS' current presence in Detroit, where the firm maintains a development center dedicated to servicing several of these local customers. The existing development center also has plans to scale up in the coming year.
