Special Guest Tom Cruise Visits Newman/Haas Racing at Long Beach Grand Prix
PacifiCare Car in Second Place of 2004 Champ Car World Series
CYPRESS, Calif., April 21 -- PacifiCare Health Systems Inc. and Paul Newman, co-owner of Newman/Haas Racing hosted actor Tom Cruise at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, the season-opening round of the 2004 Champ Car World Series on April 18.
Cruise was reunited with his "The Color of Money" mentor, Newman, after riding in the Champ Car World Series' new two-seater car that debuted at the Long Beach track. A racecar enthusiast, Cruise witnessed a behind-the-scenes look at Newman/Haas' PacifiCare car driven by two-time series runner-up Bruno Junqueira. Junqueira earned the top starting spot and secured a second place finish at the Long Beach race.
