ASA Conducts Successful Kentucky Speedway Test

SPARTA, Ky. (April 17, 2004) - Two drivers, both competing for the $50,000 Rookie of
the Year honors with the American Speed Association's National Tour, topped the speed
charts during a Friday, April 16 open test session at the Kentucky Speedway.

A total of 37 drivers took to the 1.5-mile oval in preparation for ASA's first-ever visit to
the Kentucky Speedway oval on May 7 for the BFGoodrich Tires 125, a 187.5-mile
event. This will be the first time that the ASA National Tour cars will race on at a facility
measuring more than one-mile since the July 8, 2001 event at Chicago Motor
Speedway.

All drivers reported that the ASA National Tour cars were stable on the track and the BF
Goodrich Traction T/A Radial tires performed flawlessly.

During the five hour test session there was no contact with the outside walls and none of
the drivers spun. The caution flag only waved four times, three times for debris on the
track and once when the hood of Dominic Vara's No. 18 Chevrolet broke loose.

Wade Day, in the No. 96 The Medicine Shoppe Chevrolet, turned a lap at 31.871-
seconds (169.433 mph) to post the fastest time of the day. This time was set in the fifth
and final practice session. Day was followed by Florida driver Jay Middleton in the No.
74 North Florida Medical Sales Chevrolet with a time of 31.925 seconds (169.146 mph).
Former ASA champion Bryan Reffner in the No. 80 Menards Chevrolet was third
quickest of the day at 31.967 seconds (168.924 mph).

"The car felt good all day," Day said following the test session. "We were fast when we
unloaded and just kept making adjustments on the car. It felt very comfortable at speed."

Middleton said the team's goal was to use the sessions to get at ease with the car and
then start looking for speed.

"The car responded well to the changes we made," he explained. "It was comfortable all
day and didn't dance around as much as I expected at speed."

Four-time ASA champion Butch Miller in the No. 52 Timber Wolf Chevrolet said his car
was stable on the straightaways but he had to be careful not to overdrive the corner in
the corners.

"We haven't found the limit on the cars or tires," Miller said. "We're working with two
different cars and the team has three drivers here today, so were all getting some seat
time." Miller split track time with teammates John Dalziel and K. Kriskoff.

By the conclusion of the day, the drivers had turned a total of 2827 laps. This amounted
to more than 4250 miles.


The ASA National Tour next goes into action on May 1 at the ASA Racing Lanier 250 at
Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, Ga., followed by the BFGoodrich Tires 125 at
