Eaton's New Electronic Limited Slip Differential to Be Standard Equipment on the All-New 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
SOUTHFIELD, Mich.--April 16, 2004--Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation , announced today that its new EGerodisc(TM) electronic limited slip differential will be used as standard equipment on the front and rear axles of the Quadra Drive II(TM) package on the all-new 2005 Jeep(R) Grand Cherokee, beginning later this year.Stephen Buente, senior vice president and group executive, Automotive, explained the importance of Jeep as the launch program for the EGerodisc(TM) technology. "The introduction of the EGerodisc active differential system will strengthen the Jeep Grand Cherokee as an industry benchmark. The capability of the EGerodisc differential system provides ultimate Jeep Trail Rated(R) performance and just as importantly enhances normal driving," said Buente. "We're proud that the Chrysler Group recognized our capabilities and asked us to develop this system for the Jeep Grand Cherokee."
The Eaton EGerodisc is a hydraulically-operated electronically controlled limited slip differential that is capable of providing variable torque up to full axle lock. The EGerodisc can be used as a stand-alone product that provides ultimate traction control, or it can be integrated with ABS or stability control packages to also provide enhanced vehicle dynamics.
