Shelby Factory to Host 40th Anniversary of Mustang Celebration in North Texas

DALLAS--April 14, 2004--The North Texas celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Ford Mustang will kick off at the Unique Performance Shelby Continuation Facility on April 22, 2004 in Dallas. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the arrival of "The Great American Pony Drive II," which is comprised of European and American-owned Mustangs caravanning across the United States. Unique Performance manufactures Shelby continuation cars based on vintage Mustangs in the facility located at 13950 Senlac Drive in Farmers Branch, Texas.

The Great American Pony Drive II began on April 8, 2004 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and will end June 6 in Williamsburg, Va. Hundreds of Mustangs will join the caravan at over 40 stops across the continental United States to celebrate the tour. Activities in North Texas will include a Mustang show, factory tours, food and prizes. Admission is free. The Discovery Channel TV show "Rides," which is filming construction of the Shelby G.T.500E and G.T.350SR, will record the celebration.

"The Ford Mustang is the most important car of our generation," said Unique Performance President Douglas Hasty. "Almost everyone has a story connected to this fantastic vehicle, and Carroll is opening our doors to the public so we can all share our passion for the original 'ponycar.' It's appropriate that the celebration will be at the Texas Shelby Continuation Facility, where vintage Mustangs are reborn."

The North Texas Mustang Club, Shelby Cobra Association of Texas and SVT Club will join the party. Ford Motor Company will bring a 40th Anniversary Edition Mustang and a 2005 Mustang to the event. Gotham City Racing's Mike Ashley will show off the Shelby G.T.500E Pro Mod NHRA drag car that captured fourth place in its first race at the 2004 NHRA Mac Tools Gatornationals.

"This party is for everyone in the Dallas/Fort Worth area who can't attend the Mustang Club of America event in Nashville, or simply wants to extend that celebration," added Craig Grant, Past President of NTMC. "The Metroplex will have an unprecedented opportunity to enjoy hundreds of America's favorite muscle car, from classic Shelbys to the new 2005 model, with Mustang enthusiasts from around the world."

Under Mr. Shelby's direction, Unique Performance transforms Ford Mustangs into the ultimate pony car. Each begins life as a 1965-67 Mustang before being rebuilt with 21st century technology. The cars come with high performance Ford engines, four wheel Baer disc brakes, Total Control independent front suspension with rack & pinion, Griffin radiator, Old Air Products air conditioning system, JBA headers and other top components.

The Shelby G.T.500E, which looks similar to the one seen in "Gone in Sixty Seconds," is available in three different levels including a "Super Snake" powered by an aluminum Shelby 427 FE motor. The Shelby G.T.350SR is a modern evolution of the 1965 G.T.350 "R" model. Each G.T.500E and G.T.350SR receives a Shelby VIN and will be included in the next Shelby American World Registry.

The Shelby G.T.500E and G.T.350SR are available through Shelby dealers across the United States. A list of authorized dealers is available via the Internet at www.shelbyautomobiles.com or at www.uniqueperformance.com.
