CBC and ARI Launch S(2) - A New Joint Venture

Partnership Brings Two Industry Leaders Together to Develop Innovative Recovery Solutions

SADDLE RIVER, N.J., April 14 -- S(2), a new service offering from CBC National, Inc. and ARI (Automotive Resources International) was launched today as part of a strategic partnership between two powerful subrogation recovery and salvage/remarketing industry players. The new venture was built on the premise that no company should let money slip through its fingers. Responding to the needs of the insurance industry, the rental car industry, and a variety of other self-insured and government entities, S(2) provides clients with aggressive subrogation resale services that are designed to positively impact their bottom line.

The business case for S(2) is strong. Industry research shows that nearly 73 percent of all recoverable subrogation dollars are closed with no recovery. And previous research shows that claims recoveries have focused largely on subrogation, with little attention paid to the potential for improved recoveries from auto salvage.

S(2) brings together the power of two leading companies. CBC is one of the fastest growing subrogation firms in the nation, counting among its clients the largest insurance and rental car companies in the country. ARI is the largest privately held fleet leasing and management company in America, an established leader in corporate fleet management programs.

With S(2), CBC and ARI offer a program with a mix of subrogation and salvage initiatives. An entity may reserve the "right of subrogation" in the event of a loss. This means that the company may choose to take action to recover the amount of damages to repair the loss if a third party caused it. The practice of subrogation applies to self-insured enterprises and insurers and applies to physical damages, as well as injuries.

"CBC has built a very successful business on recovering for insurance companies and rental car agencies," says Elissa Palmer, CBC Vice-President of Client Dynamics. "All too often, claims go uncollected, but when CBC gets involved, they become active, bringing in much-needed, and often, unanticipated revenue. The new service options offered through S(2) will bring even better results."

Salvage involves a vehicle, or other merchandise, that has been destroyed or damaged. In some cases, the insurer or self-insured would consider it uneconomical to make repairs. These damaged items often have some residual value, which can offset a client's loss.

"ARI's progressive efforts using traditional and advanced methods, such as e-commerce and online auctions, combine for a 24/7 array of opportunities for high resale returns," says Tony Klym, ARI Business Development. "This dynamic approach, coupled with our managing over 450,000 vehicles under various other programs, has led to strong growth and record revenue for our clients. With the S(2) venture, this service will be even stronger."
