Reynolds and Reynolds' Networkcar(R) Named Finalist for Top Telematics Industry Award

SAN DIEGO, April 13 -- Networkcar(R), a Reynolds and Reynolds company , announced today that it's been named a finalist for the Second Annual Telematics Update Magazine Telematics Award program. It was selected for both the Best Commercial Vehicle Solution category and the Best Consumer Vehicle Application group.

Other finalists in the commercial category include International Truck and Engine, QUALCOMM, TransCore and Vetronix Corporation.

Telematics can be defined as a wireless communications system designed for the collection and dissemination of data. Applications include vehicle-based electronic systems, mobile telephony, vehicle tracking and positioning, online navigation and information services and emergency assistance.

Telematics Awards recognize industry leaders such as suppliers, OEMs, service providers and software developers whose hard work and talent are bringing real value to telematics products and services. The winner of each category will be announced during the Telematics Update Awards Gala Dinner on May 25th in association with the Telematics Update 2004 Conference and Exhibition at Cobo Center in Detroit.

"We are thrilled to be recognized by our peers in this program," said Networkcar President Dave Dutch. "It proves that Networkcar's management system has a winning combination of GPS tracking features and remote diagnostics functionality that can help fleets significantly improve their profitability and consumers protect their investment."

Networkcar's system collects and organizes detailed performance and location-based information directly from a vehicle's engine computer and global positioning system (GPS). This information is then transmitted wirelessly from the vehicle and made available online for fleets to monitor operating parameters such as current location, diagnostic trouble codes, fuel efficiency, mileage, and speed. Networkcar's technology is compatible with virtually all cars manufactured since 1996 and heavy trucks manufactured since 1988.

"The Telematics Update Awards program has gained in popularity as reflected in the vast number of nominees for this year's award program," said Phil Magney, chairman of the Awards Judging Panel and Principal Analyst of Telematics Research Group. "Hundreds of nominees have been submitted this year ranging from small start-ups to large multinational brands. These companies represent the future of telematics with some very compelling solutions."
