BorgWarner Announces Cool Logic(TM) for 2007 EPA Compliant Class 8 Engines
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 12 -- BorgWarner Emissions/Thermal Systems has developed proprietary engine cooling technology designed to meet the requirements of the North American Class 8 EPA compliant engines. Cool Logic(TM) proprietary fan clutch technology offers increased torque capacity and multi-speed operation, which electronically controls fan speed for optimized engine cooling. The new technology also provides increased fuel economy benefits and reduces fan noise. Its robust design increases durability under the higher heat environments of future heavy trucks. It is also designed to be completely maintenance free.
"New 2007 and 2010 emission regulations present a challenge for makers of heavy truck cooling systems," said Keith Pierson, Director, North American Commercial Sales, BorgWarner Emissions/Thermal Systems. "BorgWarner has aggressively met these challenges with the Cool Logic(TM) fan clutch in addition to our unique fan systems. The Cool Logic(TM) and integrated fan systems will allow the severe cooling conditions of the higher heat rejection engines to be satisfied at various operating points. When severe cooling is not required, they will provide optimized cooling with increased fuel economy savings from reduced fan horsepower usage."
Cool Logic(TM) is undergoing vigorous duty cycle testing at the BorgWarner Emissions/Thermal Systems test labs in Marshall, Michigan. Vehicle field tests will begin later this year. Production is expected to begin during mid- 2005.
