(April 8, 2004) - One of the premier short tracks in the Midwest, Madison International Speedway, located in Oregon, Wis., has signed an agreement with the American Speed Association Member Track/Level Two program for the 2004 season. "Madison International Speedway has produced some of the most entertaining events on the ASA National Tour and we anticipate the same kind of energy with the Member Track program," said Terry Kunes, owner of Madison International Speedway. Being the initial member track from the state of Wisconsin, we greatly anticipate getting involved at this ground breaking level and look forward to a successful relationship with ASA in the future." Labeled as the fastest half-mile oval in Wisconsin, Madison International Speedway offers some of the most thrilling racing excitement on a weekly basis. The track has a full array of suites in turn 1 and seating capacity for more than 10,000. ASA National Tour car owner and successful businessman Terry Kunes purchased the track in November of 2002. Kunes appointed Roy Kenseth, father of NASCAR Nextel Cup Champion Matt Kenseth, to promote and manage Madison. "Bringing MIS to the status of ASA Member Track/Level Two along with our privileged position as the host of the inaugural ASA Late Model Series event, is doubly big," said Roy Kenseth, general manger and promoter of Madison International Speedway. "With the ASA National Tour also coming to town this summer, our track is poised for some of its most important events ever!" Madison International Speedway, known as the track of champions, is celebrating its 35th season of operation in 2004. Former track champions are a who's who in American Motorsports including defending Nextel Cup Champion Matt Kenseth, Craftsman Truck Series Titlist Travis Kvapil, 1995 ASA Champion Bryan Reffner and current ASA National Tour standout Todd Kluever. "Madison has developed a rich history of stock car racing in the Badger State, so I'm thrilled to have this track join the Member Track/Level 2 program, said Dennis Huth, ASA Member Track program director. "We're confident this program links the ASA name with some of the best short tracks in America. It will afford the respective Member Tracks the opportunity to expand on this flexible program." The ASA Member Track program is designed for weekly short track venues to make available many of the policies, principles, procedures and components that have made the American Speed Association a premier short track sanctioning body for 37 years. A Level Two program track joins a select group of elite tracks displaying the ASA Member Track logo. Participating Level Two tracks in contrast with Level One Member Tracks are not involved with the point fund contributions and additional marketing programs afforded Level One ASA Member Tracks.
