Nissan Europe Reports March Sales

TRAPPES, FRANCE, April 7 -- Nissan Europe reported total sales of 60,758 vehicles (1) in March 2004, an increase of 1.9% over the same month last year.

In the three month period from January to March 2004, Nissan Europe sold 138,206 units, 5.6% up from last year.

HIGHLIGHTS BY COUNTRY

- Nissan in France sold 4,823 units in March, registering a 10.3% increase compared to last year. In the three month period from January to March 2004, Nissan sold 11,670 units in France, up by 8.8% compared to last year.

- In Germany, Nissan sold 4,340 units in March, representing a decrease of 43.2% compared to last year. In the three month period from January to March 2004, Nissan sold 11,540 units in Germany, 25% down from last year.

- In Italy, Nissan sold 7,898 units in March, up 24.6% against last year. In the three month period from January to March 2004, Nissan sales in Italy rose to 21,978 units, up by 32.8% compared to last year.

- Nissan in Spain sold 6,449 units in March, up 29% compared to last year. In the three month period from January to March 2004, Nissan sales in Spain rose to 15,180 units up by 22.1% compared to last year.

- In the UK, Nissan sold 18,429 units, a decrease of 10.1% compared to last year. In the three month period from January to March 2004, Nissan's sales in the UK fell to 29,915 units, down 5.4% compared to last year.

MODEL HIGHLIGHTS

- The Micra was Nissan's best-selling European model with a total of 21,183 unit sales in March representing an increase of 17.3% against the same month last year. In the three month period from January to March 2004, total Micra sales reached 44,762 units, up by 25% compared to last year.

- X-TRAIL sales increased by 13% in March against the same month last year to 6,282 units. In the three month period from January to March 2004, total X-TRAIL sales reached 15,619 units, up by 23.3% compared to last year.

- Pickup sales increased by 31.3% in March against the same month last year to 4,679 units. In the three month period from January to March 2004, total Pickup sales reached 10,519 units, up by 18.3% compared to last year
