Tata Consultancy Services and ANSYS Establish Strategic Alliance; New Alliance Will Help Design and Manufacturing Companies Accelerate Product Development and Innovation
NEW YORK--April 6, 2004--Tata Consultancy Services, one of the world's largest global software consulting and services organizations, has formed an alliance with ANSYS, Inc. , a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes. The TCS-ANSYS relationship will help customers of both companies dramatically accelerate product development, while increasing the quality and reliability of their designs through integrated digital prototyping. This alliance will allow the two companies to jointly deliver product development solutions that combine ANSYS modeling and simulation technologies and TCS' engineering consulting, configuration, customization and on-site deployment services worldwide. A range of industries that use engineering simulations as a product development strategy will benefit from these enhanced solutions, including aerospace, automotive, power generation, heavy machinery, consumer products and electronics.
TCS and ANSYS will focus on Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) integration with the ANSYS Workbench engineering simulation platform, Knowledge-Based Engineering (KBE) and customization. As a result of improved PLM IT tools and infrastructure, customers will benefit from increased productivity in the design and production processes by as much as 70 to 90 percent. Automation of analysis procedures by integration with ANSYS Workbench will provide designers with an analysis capability along with design automation, leading to better quality of first-time designs.
"TCS has more than 30 years of engineering services expertise - from PLM to KBE - and we have been helping FORTUNE 1000 companies with multi-site PLM implementations resulting in decreased time-to-market and better overall value for them and their suppliers and customers," said Regu Ayyaswamy, global head of TCS' Engineering Services Practice. "The openness and modular architecture of the ANSYS Workbench simulation platform will allow us to deploy process-integrated design simulation solutions quickly and cost-effectively. By working directly with ANSYS, we are able to deliver the most efficient simulation data management solutions to meet our customers' needs. Additionally, ANSYS' breadth and depth of technology will help our customers with their simulation-driven product design initiatives."
"By leveraging TCS' world class multi-platform PLM expertise and domain specific knowledge, we are reinforcing our commitment to bringing proven and cost-effective product development solutions to our customers," said Joe Fairbanks, vice president of worldwide sales and support at ANSYS. "Many design and manufacturing companies realize the value of our scalable and multiphysics-based engineering modeling and simulation platform as a key enabler for a simulation-driven design process. A high impact implementation requires customized and PLM- integrated simulation solutions."
