LaRocco takes second at Silverdome

Round 13 of the THQ/AMA Supercross Championship kicked off at the
Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan. Moto XXX's Damon Huffman started off the
main event by grabbing the hole shot and leading for three laps before Chad
Reed claimed the lead. Amsoil/Chaparral Honda's Mike LaRocco came out of
the shuffle in second and would hold his position throughout the race.
LaRocco's teammate Kevin Windham mounted on his Honda CRF450R started in
the middle of the field and rode a steady race to finish in fourth. Team
Honda's Nathan Ramsey had a rough start and fell on the first lap,
finishing in twelfth.

In 250 heat action, K-Dub took the first heat of the night followed closely
by teammate LaRocco in second, moving both of them into the big show. In
the first semi, Red Rider Craig Anderson on a CR250R took third and in semi
two THQ World Supercross points leader Huffman took the win ahead of
second-place Ramsey; Honda privateer Joseph Oehlof took fourth.

Sending 55,000 screaming race fans to their feet, Huffman took the hole
shot in the main on his CRF450R. Huffman would relinquish the lead to Reed
on lap three, while LaRocco held on to second. The Rock played a race-long
chess game with David Vuillemin for second, by far the best dice of the
evening.

"It was difficult for both of us. We ran into lapped riders and I think
neither of us could take the lines we were comfortable with," said LaRocco.
"I was just hoping I could get through as clean as I could and hopefully
he'd have some problems, which is exactly what happened."

As the checker flag dropped, LaRocco was able to hold onto his starting
position and finish second. After starting the race mid-pack, Windham moved
steadily through the field to finish the race in fourth.

The Red Riders can be seen next visiting the Lone Star State of Texas on
April 17 at Texas Stadium. Windham is currently second in points followed
by teammate LaRocco in third.
