NHTSA Posts 2004 Four-Door Sedans Crash Test Results

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) today posted New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) crash test results for all model year 2004 four door sedans on its website, Click4 safercar.gov.   Sedans generally tested well with the Acura TSX and Lexus ES330, both with side-impact air bags, receiving the top rating of five stars. The Mazda 3 and Suzuki Forenza received the lowest scores of the group – three stars for both the driver and rear passenger in side-impact crash tests.

Results from previously tested 2004 vehicles are also available at Click4 safercar.gov.

New 2004 frontal impact ratings for four-door vehicles are provided for the Acura TSX four-door sedan, Chevrolet Aveo four-door sedan, Chevrolet Aveo five-door hatchback, Chevrolet Malibu four-door sedan, Hyundai Elantra four-door sedan, Hyundai Elantra five-door wagon, Hyundai XG350 four-door sedan, Lexus ES330 four-door sedan, Lincoln LS four-door sedan, Mazda 3 four-door sedan, Suzuki Aerio four-door sedan, Suzuki Aerio five-door hatchback, Suzuki Forenza four-door sedan, Toyota Camry four-door sedan, Toyota Prius four-door sedan and the Toyota Scion xA five-door hatchback.

New 2004 side-impact ratings for four-door vehicles are provided for the Acura RL four-door sedan, Acura TSX four-door sedan, Kia Optima four-door sedan, Lexus ES330 four-door sedan, Mazda 3 four-door sedan, Mazda RX-8 four-door sedan, Suzuki Aerio four-door sedan, Suzuki Forenza four-door sedan, Toyota Camry four-door sedan, Toyota Prius four-door sedan and the Toyota Scion xA five-door hatchback.
