Rookie Clint Bowyer to Drive the Reese's No. 21 Chevrolet in O'Reilly 300; First Busch Series Race of Bowyer's Career
HERSHEY, Pa., April 2 -- There will be a new look inside the Reese's No. 21 Chevrolet when it takes to the track during the O'Reilly 300 Busch Series race at Texas Motor Speedway on April 3, 2004. Clint Bowyer, a NASCAR newcomer, will be behind the wheel for his first Busch Series start.
Bowyer joins the Reese's racing team in 2004 after achieving success as a NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series champion. He will be sharing the driver's seat of the No. 21 Reese's Chevrolet throughout the season with current points leader Kevin Harvick.
"Clint's been really good and really fast in every test and project we've had him do since the end of last year," said Richard Childress, Owner, Richard Childress Racing. "We're really confident in what he's doing and have every reason to believe that he's going to have a great run when he makes his debut in the No. 21 Reese's Chevrolet next week at Texas Motor Speedway."
"We're really excited to have Clint join the Reese's racing team," said Alex Corcoran, Marketing Manager, Reese's Brand, Hershey Foods. "Clint is a terrific, young driver, who we expect to do big things for Reese's racing this year."
I'm so glad Texas is finally here, and I get my shot at driving the Reese's Chevrolet," Bowyer said. "I'm so thankful to Richard Childress and Hershey Foods for giving me this chance; I can't wait to get there." According to Bowyer, "I've been going to the track every week, watching and learning from Kevin. It's really hard to go each week, and not be able to sit in the race car."
Bowyer will drive the Reese's No. 21 car in 14 Busch Series races this year which will allow him to compete for the Busch Series Raybestos Rookie of the Year title.
