AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch; New Statewide Record
HOUSTON--April 2, 2004--Texas gas prices have reached a new record high, according to AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch.The Texas average for a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline jumped about two cents to a new record of $1.637. San Antonio also set a new high in the price of gasoline this week at $1.608 a gallon. Corpus Christi dropped three-tenths of a penny to $1.622 a gallon. Dallas tops the list at $1.652 a gallon, up about a penny.
"Fears of supply interruptions due to the refinery fire in Texas City this week prompted price spikes in some areas," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "However, reports indicate the fire had minimal impact on production."
AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for automobile trips.
