DaimlerChrysler March 2004 U.S. Sales Decrease 3 Percent

* Chrysler Group Achieves Second Consecutive Quarter of Year-Over-Year Sales Increases and is Well-Positioned for 2004

* Mercedes-Benz USA Prepares Product Offensive Introductions for 2004 and Beyond

NEW YORK, April 1 -- DaimlerChrysler, releasing sales information in advance of detailed information to be announced by Chrysler Group and Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA), reported sales of 215,672 passenger vehicles in the U.S. in March 2004, down 3 percent over March 2003. The sales figures are reported on an unadjusted basis.

Chrysler Group, which consists of the Chrysler Jeep(R) and Dodge brands, posted sales of 197,856 vehicles in the U.S., down 2 percent. MBUSA posted sales of 17,816 units, down 10 percent.

Detailed vehicle sales information for MBUSA and Chrysler Group will be announced later in press releases issued by the groups.
