Stremme, TRIMSPA X32 Dodge, Looking to Bounce Back at TMS

Grapevine, TX (March 28, 2004) – David Stremme, driver of the TRIMSPA X32
Dodge needs a top finish at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) this weekend to regain
momentum in the NASCAR Busch Series points hunt. A promising run by Stremme last
weekend was cut short by late-race contact with Kevin Harvick, costing Stremme
a top-five finish and relegating him to 18th place.
“The TRIMSPA Dodge was very strong at Bristol,” Stremme said. “
We are looking at the big picture here at Braun Racing, which made last week
tough to swallow when we lost points. Texas is where our focus is right now.
Braun Racing’s best finish of 2003 was at Texas so we have the potential to run
very well there.”
Just as Stremme and Team TRIMSPA came back from a mechanical
failure at North Carolina Speedway to finish third at Las Vegas the following
week, they hope to come back from their late-race disappointment at Bristol with a
strong run in Texas.
“We are taking a brand new car to Texas Motor Speedway,” Stremme
said. “I have never turned a lap there, but so far those have been the type
of tracks where I run best. They say it is one of the fastest places we run at
and I really like the faster tracks. As long as it turns left, I know I can
drive it. It’s when you get turned right like I did in Bristol when you have a
problem. But you won’t see any paybacks at Texas. It is way to fast for that.
What happens in Bristol stays in Bristol.”
If not for a distributor failure in Rockingham and last week’s
spin, incidents that occurred while running in the top five, Stremme has
finished in the top six at every race this season. Stremme will be making his first
start at TMS this weekend, which would normally be a reason for concern.
However, Stremme already has two top-five finishes in 2004 at tracks he has never
raced on before.
“I think we are running good on tracks that I have never raced on
before because of the communication between me and my crew chief Todd Lohse,”
Stremme said. “We look at Texas as more of an opportunity than something we
should be worried about.”
Stremme and the X32 TRIMSPA Dodge will look to bounce back when they visit
Texas Motor Speedway for the O’Reilly 300 next weekend. The race will be
televised live April 3, at 2 p.m. EDT on FOX, and will broadcast nationally at that
same time on radio stations affiliated with Performance Racing Network and XM
Satellite Radio Channel 144.
