Celebrity Heroes to Honor Nation's Top Hometown Heroes April 7 in Times Square

2004 Volvo for Life Awards Hosted by Jim Belushi; Hero Awards Presented by Hank Aaron, Bill Bradley, Caroline Kennedy, Maya Lin,

                Dr. Sally Ride and Eunice Kennedy Shriver;
              Music by Toots and the Maytals and Joss Stone

   What:     Celebrity heroes -- Hank Aaron, Bill Bradley, Caroline Kennedy,
             Maya Lin, Dr. Sally Ride and Eunice Kennedy Shriver -- are
             scheduled to present the nation's top three hometown heroes
             with Volvo for Life Awards.  The 2004 Volvo for Life Awards
             Ceremony is the largest-ever national search and celebration of
             everyday heroes with more than $1 million in contributions in
             honor of hometown heroes.  The three heroes were chosen from a
             group of nine finalists, who were selected from more than 2,700
             nominations and appear on www.volvoforlifeawards.com .

   Where:    Times Square Studios, Ltd. (Home of ABC-TV's "Good Morning
             America"), 44th and Broadway, Times Square, New York; Wed.,
             April 7, 2004, 7 p.m. - 11 p.m. (Call 612-338-3900 for schedule
             of activities and to book interviews with participants.)

   Who:      Hosted by Jim Belushi; Awards presented by the six celebrity
             heroes listed above; Musical performances by Toots and the
             Maytals, Joss Stone and Jim Belushi and the Sacred Hearts.
             Honorees:

             Rosamond Carr, 91, Gisenyi, Rwanda, a native of New Jersey
             living in Rwanda who for the past 10 years has overseen an
             orphanage for more than 100 children whose parents died in the
             1994 Rwandan genocide.
             Earnestine Russell, 54, Bronx, N.Y., who 20 years ago founded a
             youth center that has improved the lives of more than 3,000
             children in a crime-ridden area of northeast Bronx.
             Kristen Stryker, 18, Canton, Ohio, who created a gardening
             project that teaches inmates in 12 state youth correctional
             facilities the value of growing food for the hungry.

   Why:      Launched in September 2003, the second annual Volvo for Life
             Awards called for people nationwide to nominate an unsung hero
             at www.volvoforlifeawards.com .  More than 2,700 nominations
             were submitted.  Distinguished judges -- Aaron, Bradley,
             Kennedy, Lin, Ride and Shriver, along with Paul Newman --
             selected the top three heroes.  Each winner receives charitable
             awards.  One overall winner will be announced and will receive
             a new Volvo car every three years for the rest of his or her
             life.
