Terry Borcheller - Homestead race
two for two
Terry Borcheller and Craig Stanton increased their lead in Grand-Am Cup
championship standings with a smooth victory at Homestead-Miami Speedway on March
28. Borcheller, of Gainesville, Ga., and Stanton, of Long Beach, Calif., are
two for two this season, with both wins in the No. 44 Porsche 996 prepared by
TheRaceSite.com Racing.
Stanton qualified second on the 53-car grid with a time of one minute 28.764
seconds on the 2.3-mile Homestead, Fla., infield road course. He drove the
first race stint, taking the lead after 53 minutes of the three-hour race.
Borcheller took over during a caution period at the halfway mark. Although he
dropped back during the pitstop, he had a strong restart, passing six cars to regain
the race lead. He took the checkered flag with a margin of victory of 5.599
seconds.
"We stayed out of trouble, which was the key to our success," Borcheller
said. "Everybody else seemed to get themselves into trouble or were in the wrong
place at the wrong time; a lot of fast cars had problems. Craig drove a
tremendous opening stint and the crew did a really good job with the stops and the
prep of the car.
"I had an unbelievable restart: I was third or fourth and there were six cars
[including lapped cars] in front of me. I timed it absolutely perfect and got
every single one of them before turn one!"
TheRaceSite.com Racing holds the top four positions in unofficial Grand-Am
Cup GS driver standings after two races.

Borcheller will compete in the Grand-Am Cup and Rolex Sports Car Series races
at Phoenix International Raceway on April 9 and 10.
