Parkeracing Continues Corvette Tradition In AGT

Wilton, CT March 28, 2004; Today, parkeracing announced it's intentions to compete in the AGT Series beginning with the 4th of July round at Lime Rock. "We are making significant changes to almost every system of the Corvette and are working feverishly to meet our target date" stated owner and driver Keith Parker. 

Upgrades include wheels and tires along with brakes. The engine and trans, aero package, and paint will be feeshened prior to the car's debut at Lime Rock. "We hope to let fans follow along with our progress on line at www.parkeracing.com as soon as the site finished" Parker went on to say. 

Keith Parker has remained loyal to the Corvette marquee throughout his racing career, beginning with a 1971 LT-1 coupe he autocrossed with the National Council of Corvette Clubs in 1987. Moving to a '68 coupe dedicated as a race car in 1989 Keith won a South Jersey Region SCCA Solo II class championship in B/SP and made the move to wheel to wheel competition the following year. 

Competing in the Eastern Motor Racing Association's STGT class, Keith finished 2nd for the season and also took 5th place overall in the East Region NCCC competition the same year. The next year the current car was purchased as a project and two additional years were spent putting the car together. An extensive testing program paid dividends as Keith placed second in the American Thundercar Racing Association's all Corvette race at Sebring FL. in 1995, the first race for the car. The following year, again at Sebring, Parker placed first in class at the NCCC National Convention. 

Keith has owned and race Corvettes since 1979 and was a co-founder and first President of a NJ Corvette Club in 1983. In addition, he has been active at the regional and national level with NCCC. Parkeracing will have a major announcement concerning sponsorship soon.

The American GT Challenge will open its inaugural season at South Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina April 10 through 11th. The American GT Challenge uses purpose built tube frame chassis cars, power by a V-8 & V-6 engine, with composite bodies, replicating series produced American touring or grand touring cars competing exclusively on Goodyear Racing Tires.
